Hello friends :)

How is everyone? Here in the UK, we are having an unusually mild time for November.....No I'm not complaining, honest I'm not! Only problem is, I am usually starting to get into the the idea that xmas is coming and start feeling all festive......I am too warm to be getting into the idea of Xmas, it s not cold enough lol.

Since we added chickens to our family, we have been getting an abundance of eggs.
We have been having boiled and fried eggs almost every day and still have eggs leftover, so what does a person do if they have quite a few eggs?

Bake cakes of course! Lemon Drizzle, Chocolate and Orange and pineapple upside down cake. Then just because I had got into the swing of baking again.....Fruit Scones, Plain Scones and Cheese Scones :)

Next time you find yourself with an abundance of eggs, why don't you get out your Pinny (apron) and bake up a storm :)

Two new chickens to our flock

Hello everyone :)
Sorry I have been a bit quiet of late, we have been spending our time sorting out the garden ready winter and also winterizing the chicken coop.
We added 2 of this years hatch-lings to the flock a couple of days ago so I wanted to share some photo's with you all.

They are 5 months old Buff Orpington crosses. Above is Max our first Rooster and below is his sister Gracie

Gracie isn't laying yet....I keep checking for eggs every morning....but no egg yet :)

Our original 3 girls aren't too happy with the "interlopers" there has been quite a bit of squabbling, but we are hopeful that they will all settle down again soon.....of course Kate wanted her photo taking too, so here she is...

Milly is here shouting at Emma because she has gone and hid behind the potting table (you can just see her tail popped up at the back of the photo) I don't know if she's hiding from the camera or the new chickens lol.

Right I best go back outdoors, I am supposed to be helping hubby turn the stinky compost heap...yukk!

Hello everyone :)
I have been getting photo happy again lol.....well this is the only way I can record the changes in our girls :)
We have been bribing them with food to get them used to us...todays special on the menu? Oranges and mealworms! Unfortunately the mealworm went quicker than I could get the camera switched on, so without further ado...here's Milly, Kate and Emma with their favourite human with food!

The one closest is Milly, she has started moulting and looks all raggedy......she's hubby's favourite.....everytime he goes out the backdoor, Milly follows him around the garden.

This one is Emma, she's "the boss" she's constantly watching out for the other 2, if they go out of her sight, she shouts and they come running :)

This one nearest the camera is Kate, she is nearly the same colouring as Milly but she is slightly bigger (it helps that Milly is moulting and has a bald bottom so I can tell the difference) I think we need to get coloured rings so we can tell who's who for when they have all finished moulting lol.

Well we have gone chicken mad here since my last post!
We are half way through building a new chicken coop and run. We have 3 new girls to our family....Emma, Kate and Milly and a new rooster will be arriving when the coop is finished.....Alyssa and Liamm are arguing already on what his name will be :)

Here are the girls in their temporary home until the big one is finished :)

They are so funny to watch when we let them out into the garden...they line up and scrat in time.....it's like watching chicken can-can lol and Milly (the smallest) is so good at finding worms and when she finds a worm the other two chase her around the garden trying to get it off of her....they've got no chance....Milly is so fast!

Well, I wanted to nip in and let you know that I haven't fell off the face of the earth lol.
I will be back soon, I hope :)

Sheena's Poppies

I have finally found some time to play with my paints. This is my first attempt at a poppy using Sheena's Paint Fusion and poppy stamp.
I started with a crackled background and then stamped the poppy and leaves before painting with Pebeo.
Oh I've just noticed that I forgot to paint a stalk!......the poppy is floating above the leaves :)

I have been playing with Sheena's stamps and paints again.....love these Sweet Peas but I can never get them to grow properly in our garden...too much wind and not enough sunshine lol. I reckon I should paint some Sweet Peas on the fencing, that way I will have all year round colour :)
Anyhoo back to the topper, this is my 3rd attempt at these and I think I am getting them just as they should be , so this will eventually be a card for Mum on Mothering Sunday, I just don't know what background to do on the card, I don't have any papers to compliment these wonderful stamps!
Finally love has a name.......its Paint Fusion! I am so in love with this new technique :)

I received my Paint Fusion goodies today...yeah!
Alyssa and I have had fun all afternoon playing with the stamps and paints......I am no where near as good at the techniques as I would like, but it was a fun afternoon playing with my daughter and the paints......here's Alyssa's artwork...

Didn't she do a beautiful job for her first play and look how proud she is :)

I bought Sheena's new dvd last week.....WOW what a great dvd, well done Sheena! Although you have made me spend more money lol.......stamps, acrylic paint, paint brushes, pva and lots of card!
I can't wait to play :)

How many of you have invested in Sheena's Paint Fusion? Have you tried the paint techniques yet or are you like me watching the dvd over and over trying to pluck up the courage?

Got up this morning to this......

And abandoned lorries at the bottom of the garden....

Hubby went out last night to see if this one needed some blankets and hot drinks because he wasn't a night tramper, but there wasn't anyone in it. Its been there since 3pm yesterday.
One good thing about this weather.....its got me in the mood to make xmas cards....so thats what I am doing today :)

Card for Cordelia.....

This is a card that I have made for Alyssa's school friend.
I am entering this into this weeks papertake weekly challenge, which this week is "cut it out".

I have used Crafters Companions Polly, from the Patchwork Polly range and coloured with Copics.
I have used glossy accents on her wings to give dimension.
For Cordelia's name, I have used Justrite stamps and Archival Coffee.

Here's a close up of Polly....

And I decorated the inside to match.

Time keeps getting away from me.....it seems like only last week it was mid summer, now we are getting ready for snow....and boy its getting cold, I have got to the point where I don't want to get out of bed in the morning, cos I'm so cosy and warm in bed!

This is the card that I have made for Alyssa's 5th birthday today.
I have stamped and embossed the background paper and used Worn Lipstick Distress Ink to colour the edges. For the main image I have used ? from the Patchwork Polly range from Crafters Companion (sorry can't remember her name, will update it later) and coloured with Promarkers and Inktense pencils for shading.

Sorry the crafting has been thin on the ground for a while, but now that my hands have improved I am getting back into it....thank you for staying with me :)

Sorry I haven't been very active....what do you mean you didn't notice lol, anyway, my hands are not my friends this month..boohoo..because it has turned dramatically cold recently, my fingers have swollen and are very stiff, I have been soaking them in witch hazel every day and now they are slowly going down again.
I did manage to make 6 more cards to go with the previous 10 and managed to raise £12.50 for the Macmillan nurses, which I was happy about....though I would have liked to have made more cards for them....maybe when my fingers recover again :)

This month is Breast Cancer Awareness month, this is very close to my heart....my best friend Denise, lost her fight with this terrible disease two weeks ago...
I want to make as many cards as I can every week through October and sell them through our local school...all proceeds will be going to the wonderful Macmillan Nurses, who help families through their fight.
I have started printing papers off that I want to use and I have been to town and bought a metre of pink ribbon, I haven't a clue what stamp I want to use yet :)

Oh and while I'm on, I want to share with you a birthday card I have made for a friends son who will be 12 on Sunday :)

Hello friends,
I have used Creative Expressions stamps again, whenever I fancy just having a play, I always find myself going back to CE's stamps time and time again.
This time I have used the willow tree from Sheena Douglass' "more trees" and Sam Poole's "birds" stamp set.
For the background card I used a damp baby wipe to pick up distress inks and smudge them onto the card, I wanted to make it look like a chalky background without having to use chalks.
I have followed the colour through to the 2 mats, then stamped the tree with coffee archival ink then coloured with Inktense pencils. I stamped the birds over the tree with black archival and the branch onto the 2nd mat.

Thats my little playday today :)

oh no! I'm such a muppet.......

I am such a muppet! Back when I won the grand prize from Particraft, I got a bottle of crystal lacquer....now I have never had any of this before, so didn't know what to use it for.
Off onto the www I went to research it....I found a video that Sheena Douglass made on how to use the product and after watching, I thought right, I'm gonna give it a go.
Now, why am I a muppet? weeeelllll, I got the bottle out of the cupboard and proceeded to cut the top off...squeezed and nothing happened!
After hubby heard me chuntering to myself he took over and laughed his head off....I had cut through the lid! He took the lid off it and gave it me back to cut the nib off the bit I was supposed to have cut in the first place......I still couldn't get any out of it! Only to find out there was a bung bit under the nib bit.

Well needless to say, I now have a bottle of crystal lacquer that has now dried out because I cut the bloomin lid....so that was my adventure into crystal lacquer!

Perhaps someone ought to do a tutorial about how NOT to open a bottle of crystal lacquer ROFLMAO.

My desk is quite tidy today....I am playing colouring in lol. If I have a stress day, I relax by colouring
images.....I bet a lot of you do too :)

Now you know I said my table was relatively tidy.....well everywhere else isn't...

I've taken over the sofa and there's even mess spilling out of my cupboard, so I guess my messy scale this week is not a 1/10 but at least a 4/10 rofl :)

Exploding baby box........

This is for this months Crafters Companion challenge. This months challenge is "Beatrix Potter" and the chance to win the new Beatrix Winter Tales release....how cool is that!

I have made this exploding box in the baby boy theme....but with a colour change it could so easily be for a baby girl.
Everything used is:
Crafters Companion snow white cardstock....printed with a design from the Cute Companions cdrom.
Beatrix Potter stamps, Peter Rabbit/Mrs Tiddy Winkle/Tom Kitten...all coloured with Inktense pencils.
Tim Holtz Tattered Florals and paper printed with another design from the Cute Companions cdrom.
Dried Marigold Distress Ink and Red Fire Twinkles.

And the inside:

The design on the baby shoe is the same paper that I used on the Tattered Floral.

Sorry to post and run, but I have an hour to get ready to say goodbye to my sweet friend Denise, the funeral is at 2pm...looks like the weather is going to be kind to us today....

sewing is art too....isn't it?

I am trying to keep my mind busy....I received my Tim Holtz Tattered Florals the other day and have been itching to use it. I have had my friend Denise on my mind since she passed away on Monday, she loved sewing and did alot of xstitch wall hangings. I wanted to do a wall hanging that I could treasure, that would be close to my heart and the memory of my friend.

I started with an old cork tablemat and covered with a layer of pva and tissue paper, waited until dry and then repeated. I then went to town with distress inks and a gold paint dabber :)
For the tattered florals, I stuck an old sewing pattern onto grungepaper, cut and inked with distress inks.
For the sewing card, I used Sam Pooles...Vintage Sewing stamp plate (available from Particraft), I stamped the background sewing stamp with versamark on white cardstock and inked with worn lippy di's, I stamped the measure tape onto cheap copier paper, cut out and glued just 1 edge to the card.
I wanted the mannequin to have a purpose, so I had an idea to dress it :) Some years ago a friend shared a template that she made, it was to make kimono's in Paintshop Pro. So that is what is dressed on the mannequin :)
I finished with a few buttons and a nameplate thingy :)

I would like to take this time to say goodbye to my sweet bff Denise Ashley, you have fought valiantly against breast cancer twice in your life only for it to cruelly take you away from your family and friends, we will miss you deeply, you will always be in our hearts dear friend, and one day wee will all be together again for that big party we have always shared each year.

the smiles, the laughter,

I am playing with cosmic shimmers and cheap copier paper today, I love playing like this, its messy and fun :)
I am making this as backing paper for a xmas card and here's the topper...

The stamps I have used are the robins from Creative Expressions "Christmas Eve" stamp plate. I have coloured with distress inks and cosmic shimmers.
Here's the almost finished card....

I just need a sentiment adding, but there's something just not right about the card, I'm not happy....any help would be great :)
Right I'm off to get a cup of coffee and go a wandering around your desks :)

I have had a wonderful relaxing day today, I even got very inky....well my hands, not me particularly ROFL....I wanted to make art just for the fun.....not like a card that I have had to make....only trouble is, I haven't ever made art and I didn't know where to start...yoohoo Hels what have you been making? So off I went to Hels' blog to get inspiration....knew you wouldn't let me down babe :)
I attempted to make a book thingy but couldn't do anything secret...and didn't have any hangy metal thingies.....but Hels (miss queen of ink rofl) told me I should enter the Sunday Stampers challenge cos the secret was I thought I couldn't do art and I CAN! So I did what I was told cos I'm a good girl ;)

And when I'd done, I wanted to do more lol...

I certainly enjoyed my play day, hope you enjoyed seeing my *art* lol.

Happy Wednesday morning, the sun is shining and the birds are singing :)
Seeing as it is Wednesday, that means its time for What's on your workdesk Wednesday, with the lovely Julia *waves babe* over at the Stamping Ground :)

So what do I have to share with you today?

Well seeing as its early this morning I have my customary mug of coffee....I don't perform well with out it....I am playing with parchment today, I started this yesterday and have got some more shading to do today, some more embossing and then the cutting to do.
I have used the spellbinders as a template with my 2 pronged tool to prick around the shape.
And in my woyww easel this week is another xmas card lol.

Well I hope that you have enjoyed todays snoop, I am off to have a nosey around your desks....oh and I am sorry that I didn't manage to visit you all last week, I had a bad time with my hands last week....I think it was all the work I put in to finish the baby cots, it all got too much, but the swelling has gone back down for now :)

Here's a xmas topper I have been working on...Crafters Companions Popcorn the Bear xmas collection.....On my desk is also craft mat, Derwent Inktense pencils, scissors, phones and in the old flowersoft pot is some white spirits I use to blend the pencils.

Right I am off to nosey around your desks, its 9.30 am and there is already 60 desks to go through!

Finished Arty Farty Cots......

Wow we have sunshine today...sh! If I speak too loud then the rain will come back :)
The order for the 2 cots is now complete and boxed ready for delivery. There seams to be something in the water, everyone must be having baby girls because I have been asked to make more girl cots than boy cots this year......I have used Crafters Companions Patchwork Polly stampsets coloured with copics and inktense pencils. The framework I inked with shades from Big N Juicy vibrant primary and stamped over with Creative Expressions swirls stampset.

I crocheted a blanket and pillow for each cot to finish.

If you haven't done 3d crafting before, go and give it a try, its easy and so rewarding and with the hundreds of thousands of different inks and techniques to use, the effects are limitless :)

I am still working on baby cots, this is the 1st of 2 that I have been commissioned to make. As you can see I still have the mobile to finish on this one....so today I have glue, ink, cut n dry foam and dog clips awaiting on my desk....oh and later the cuttlebug will be out to cut shapes for the mobile...I couldn't fit it on the desk so its on the floor waiting lol.

Right I am off to make a large mug of coffee and make a start on visiting your crafty spaces :0)

I have been following Hels' blog Ink on My Fingers for a little while but I am hooked! Hels makes the most wonderful tags, atcs and canvas' that she alters and distresses beautifully :) I am only just getting into altering and distressing and I saw that this weeks challenge with Hels @ Sunday Stamper was Music....so I thought why not give it a try :0)
I had this old photo frame in a cupboard so it was ideal to give a new lease of life to lol. I don't have all the upto date products that you use for altering so I will tell you what I improvised with :)

I started with some liquid metal (hubby uses it for car body repairs) and daubed that on, I attacked it with the heat gun and that made it bubble up beautifully.....I then covered it with paint that is Pelikan Plaka 38 Himmel-blau (some paints I was gifted quite a few years ago, would love to know what they are in English if anyone can tell me) while it was tacky I rubbed in cosmic shimmer enchanted gold then rubbed some ink from big n juicy spice, then I got carried away and rubbed cosmic shimmer enchanted lilac......I wondered what else to add to it and went back outside to hubby's car supplies and sprayed it with clear lacquer, still not happy to call it done so I added music notes stamped with archival black....I thought I had best stop there before I ruined it.
For the centre picture I used Vintage Child stampset from Creative expressions (from candy I won at Particraft) stamped onto glossy card with archival black and DI'd with Old Paper and painted with
DI's peeled paint, tattered rose, dried marigold and black soot.

So there you have it, my first attempt at altering :0) Do I pass or shall I give it up and stick to cute cards?

Good golly its Wednesday again already! Where has this year gone? Its just flying by isn't it.
Well as it is Wednesday, you know what that means....yes its time to fess up and show us your workdesks...doesn't matter if its tidy or a right old mess...us nosey parkers are itching to visit and oooohh and ahhhh at all your lovely stash and see what you are currently working on! If you don't know what I am rambling on about....well where have you been?.....Go and visit the Queen Of Woyww - Julia Dunnit - who is the culprit for getting so many crafters hooked to this Wednesday phenomonon :)
Ok so I best show you what I have been working on......

Looky! I have a wonderful woyww easel made by Mr Dunnit! Finally something to stand my cards in for display......Thank you Mr and Mrs D, I love it :0)
I have used stamps from my winnings! Did I say I won the grand prize from Particraft last week? (There's a picture in this post if you want to see what I won) There is another blog candy up for grabs over at particraft (link in sidebar) Go on over and give it a go, you too could win some great products :)
Where was I?.....Oh yes, the card lol....I used "Vintage Cookery" stampset, designed by the wonderful Sam Poole...Oh I had such fun with this set, so easy to stamp out and the possabilities are endless...I'm going to use some of the elements from the stampset to make an homemade recipe book, so there's lots of ideas going around my head :0)
Now if I remember right, Hels asked where do I hide the rest of my stash while I'm crafting on my tiny table and does it spill onto the floor......yes Hels, there's stuff on the floor, the sofa, the fireplace and in a very big cupboard lol.

Told ya its a big cupboard....I had to sit on the floor to try and get it all in shot (I still didn't get the top shelf).

A birthday card.....

I have made a birthday card for a friends son, Alex, who will be 8 years old tomorrow.

I have used WOJ's Spider Henry and Spyder's Cornwall scene to make this card. Spyder Henry is mounted onto acetate to give dimention.....here's the side view....

I used rub-ons for his name and the number 8 is grungeboard coloured with spiced marmalade (all from my winnings from Particraft). The scene and Henry is coloured with copics.
I just need to find an envelope to fit it in now :0)

I have been getting some great info from Hels Sheridan (Ink On My Fingers) on how to use some of the products that I got from Particraft...I wanted to know how to make shapes with UTEE and Hels came through, thanks so much for the advice hun :)

I am in happyland today, I feel like the luckiest person around.....why? you may ask.....well......holds breath for dramatic effect........

A box? you ask.....well its not an ordinary box...oh no its not! This box arrived this morning, a lovely DHL man brought this and it changed my world! oh yes it did....honest....but why?

Insert really big squeal *HERE* Thats what I email Sue the minute I opened the box! I couldn't say thank you enough.....really I couldn't, *thank you* is not a big enough word.
Inside the box was the grand prize winnings from the lovely Sue Wilson @ Particraft! A couple of weeks ago the particraft website ran a blog candy that they would give away when they reached 1000 followers and there would be a 3rd, 2nd and grand prize winner!
Now I don't want to share the next pictures to make you jealous.....thats just not me......I want to share because, things like this doesn't normally happen to me...and for me to buy even half this amount would take me an entire year to save for......I know that alot of you are the same as me.....so don't give up, enter the candies and the prize draws I promise good things do happen to people like us :0)
In the mean time, why not visit the Particraft website, you will be pleasantly surprised, not only is there a great range of craft goodies to buy.....the prices are great to!
Anyway onto the next photo's...As many of you who follow my desk on WOYWW will know, I have the smallest craft table known to man lol......so it took 2 photo's to share what I have won :)

I wasn't around to join in on the last 2 wednesdays and I missed my midweek nosey, I am back now to get my fix lol.
So whats on my desktop today I hear you ask?

I am as always squashed onto the smallest desk in the known universe! I have 1 of my boxes of stamps open, heat mat, selection of inks, couple of cotton wool balls and I have printed a couple of black and white pics of number 3 son and my 1 and only ready to transfer onto a card for my mums birthday :0)

As always I also have unfunished projects on the go too......I cut some papers with my new borderabilities I got last week, now I don't know what to do with them! I stamped and inked 2 images, again I don't know what to do with them lol.

My number 2 son passed his driving test today! I am so proud of him, he passed 1st time!

Well its still hot here, the sky is dull but it is still feeling very close....we need a good storm to clear the air :0)
I bought some new crafty goodies earlier this week.....I have been stalking the postie ever since, he knows me so well that when he see's me standing at the door waiting for him, he knows I am waiting for parcels of goodies to arrive.....for 2 days he has come with nothing but crap post..you know, bills and such lol. Today I was waiting for him and I could have kissed him when I saw he had a parcel in his hands! I was so eager to rip it open and start playing that I think its the quickest "Thank you, have a good day" The postie's ever received!
I am entering this into this weeks Stamp Something Challenge, the challenge is flowery :0) Also Wild Orchid Crafts Challenge which is flowers too :)
Anyhoo, I got Spellbinders Label 8 and Spellbinders Borderabilities Lattice dies....I also got Big N Juicy "Spice" and some new cut n dry foam.
For this card, I started with A4 Centura Pearl Snow White card from Crafters Companion and printed designs from Anice's "Now Thats Funky" Cdrom from Funky Hand onto it....I love Anice's designs, but for this one I wanted it distressed and little less twee....

(This is what they looked like before I attacked them with ink, in rl you can still see a hint of the pattern but it doesn't show too well on the photo)
so I cut them out with the large label and the second largest label, after embossing them I sanded them roughly and with cut n dry I rubbed on red/brown colours from the big n juicy spice pad....then I had a brainwave as you do, and rubbed cosmic shimmer around the edges (its the one that looks white in the pot but rubs up gold). I repeated this with the lattice borderability and glued that to the middle. For the focal centre I stamped the 5 point flower from SU!s Polka Dot Punches Set 12 times and coloured 6 green and 6 gold, layered them out and added Flowers and pins from Wild Orchid Crafts.
For the base card I used a black card that has green speckles in it, and stamped swirls with versamark and embossed with white cosmic shimmer.
This card is a surprise for a friend :0)

Does anyone know if Copic Ciao Markers can be refilled? I have had mine for almost a year now and some of my most used colours have run out! I have been using Promarkers to substitute the colours that have run out, but I can't get the shades that I like that I do with the Copics.
If you can get refills for Ciao's where do you get them from?

Now onto todays post... I have made The Arty Farty Cot for hubby's friend and his wife who have just become new parents again :0)

Retirement card

Our Headmistress at Alyssa's school is retiring at the end of this term, she is looking forward to the peace and quiet but will miss all the children :0)
I have made her this card to let her know how special she is and that she will be missed.
The inside I have printed onto linen parchment paper....

Here is a close up of the verse....very apt for the retiring teacher!

The image on the front is from Jayne Nettley Mayhew part 2 cdrom and printed onto photo paper (hense the flashback, how do you photo shiny cards without the flashback covering half the picture?) The inside papers are printed from Joanna Sheen's Victorian Romance cdrom and I added the verse to complete.
I finished the front with ribbon and flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Well its starting to get very hot outside, I think I will be staying inside where its cooler....if you are going out today, take care :0)

Photography card finished....

As promised here is the finished photography card.....remember on wednesday during woyww I showed you the image I was working on? All the stamps used are Creative Expressions "photography" designed by the lovely Sam Poole :0) I did originally think they were Sheena's but have been corrected *hangs head in shame* So sorry Sam, I have now rectified it :0) well I carried on and stamped the backgound direct to card....I love how this looks like newspaper :0) I stamped the negative film onto acetate with stazon and rolled it up. I stamped the frame with versamark and embossed with gold.
Then believe it or not I spent the next 2 1/2 hours shuffling them around, I just couldn't decide on a layout.....in the end I went with this :0)

Gosh its a scorcher here again this morning! Its Wednesday again, so that means WOYWW (what's on your workdesk wednesday) with the lovely Julia Dunnit at The Stamping Ground *waves*.

This is my desk this morning, I have been messing around with inks, sponges and a brayer last night (trying to get a stormy sky with bright ink isn't working too well). This morning I am stamping images from Creative Expressions "Photography" stamp set........Doesn't look very messy does it? Well my hands and Alyssa's hands and clothes is another thing lol.

I managed to visit and comment on almost all of woywwer's desks last week, although it did take me upto Monday to do it! I would like to say a big thankyou to all of you who visits me and leaves such wonderful comments :0)

I am entering this card into The sugar Bowl Challenge.....this week it is a sketch from the lovely Marlene and includes the Theme "Girly & Feminine".
The papers are from Cute Companions cdrom, the butterflies are printed onto vellum and dry embossed.
The stamp is "giddy up" from sugar nellie, I stamped with memento and coloured with copics (oh no, i've bled around the hat).
I have plaited the ribbon and added flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts.....girly enough do you think?

Who's watching the Create and Craft xmas? I keep flicking it on and watching when I can :0)

A little extra for you today....

Alyssa came into the house crying earlier and when I asked her what was wrong (heart pounding madly thinking she'd hurt herself)

Anyway, when I had calmed her down enough, she told me "somebody was on her trampoline" (now I'm freaking, has someone got into the garden?)

I ran outside to see...nobody there...Alyssa grabbed my hand and pulled me to go down to the trampoline.

This is what upset her!

Spooky or what?

After I told her that it was nothing to be afraid of and that its just a play of the light, she felt alot better....but still wouldn't go on the trampoline!

This is 1 of 3 cards that I have made for Alyssa's teachers, I am also making 3 matching Journals to go with them.
Alyssa leaves nursery in 3 weeks and starts "big" school in September....she is so excited but is also upset that she won't be in nursery and seeing Mrs Gill, Mrs Boden and Mrs Moore.....my poor baby is torn :0)
Anyhoo, back to the card, I have stamped "Julie" Patchwork Polly with Memento and coloured with Copics.
The papers are Papermania "spring Burst".

Did you watch tennis yesterday? Wow what a thrilling game between Mahut and Isner! Can't wait for it to start again at 3.30pm today....what was the score at the last count....60/60 I think and its played for 10 hours already, longest game ever! I am rooting for John Isner....what about you?

Where has this week gone? I don't seem to have had the time to do much this week. I am half way through making a card using the ingredients above....yes I have given in and bought a paper pack instead of printing some off....mainly cos my printer is out of ink, but also because I wanted purple papers to match the lovely Patchwork Polly that I coloured in yesterday ready for this card.

Most of this week has been taken up with crocheting the blanket for Alyssa, as you can see, I am nowhere near finished yet.....long ago I would have finished a small blanket in a couple of days, now it takes me alot longer, I have to keep stopping because my fingers hurt with arthritis.....I get very frustrated.

For this card I have used the cute companions cdrom for the letters and backing paper and stamped the images using elements from the patchwork polly stamp series.....you can buy these and more from Crafters Companion.
This card is for my number 3 son who will be 13 next week....I know, probably not an ideal card for a 13 year old boy, but you have to play with what you've got...right? Also don't boys just look closely to the money they get inside the card and not the card itself lol. I will have to save up for some stamps for teenagers any ideas?

This is 1 of 3 Father's Day cards that I made today, I haven't had much inspiration for cards this week, my brain is stuck in crochet mode lol. Well anyway the point is, I suddenly remembered that I had 3 cards to make for Fathers Day so I made life easy and made them all the same!

I have used Crafters Companion's Popcorn the Bear, mens cdrom and Fathers day stamp set to make the cards. I have watercoloured Popcorn today...I need to refill some of my copics, so out came the trusty Lyra's :)
The yellow cardstock I cut with a sizzix die and cropadile and made it into a little pocket to hold a gift card.

This is my workdesk this morning, not quite messy I'm afraid :0)
Lots of love on this workdesk today, this is a blanket that I am making for my little princess, lots of woolley goodness :0) I am making a granny lines blanket and when finished it will be big enough for her to cuddle on the sofa.

This is Beatrix Potter meets Sheena Douglas! I wanted Beatrix and Mrs Tiggy Winkle to have their little tea party in the garden, so thats how Sheena Douglas comes in. I have used "Country Cottage" and "Trees" to create the scene :0) The problem now is that I have hit a brick wall....I don't know how to finish the card, I did want to add cottage flowers to frame the picture but the person on ebay who I orded them from has just informed me that it looks like they have got lost in the post and she will send me a replacement when she has claimed a loss from the post office....What? I have to wait until she has claimed her money back? Is it my fault that the post office has lost the parcel? humph!

She is altering one of her boxes to make it into a jewelry box, she now has a watch and a necklace of her own and wants a pretty box to put them in...what girl doesn't lol.

Yes I know the text on the front isn't straight...oh well, one to go in the redo box....but I did enjoy playing :0)

These cute stamps from Crafters Companion! Wow what can I say about CC, they are a wonderful bunch of ladies....I ordered these yesterday afternoon and thought I had made a mestake on my order and emailed them to make sure it had gone through ok....Leanne got back to me within half an hour to check my order and say yes everything had gone through ok...cheers babe :0)
It is now 1pm the next day and I am sat with them in my hands...stroking them lol. Such wonderful sevice as always ladies, thank you very much :0)

I was going to have a play with them now.....guess what....I forgot to order more stick n spray! Will a glue stick work do you think?

I heard about this craze sweeping the world, its called "what's on your workdesk wednesday" and I was intrigued :0)
So this is my 1st WOYWW :0)

I don't have my own little craft space, I have this little table in the living room....not alot of space but it will do until my children grow up and leave home lol.
I do have this 7 foot tall cabinate in the living room though....

We bought this from a charity shop last year a bargain £40, Hubby and I did the lead on the glass and we want to do the top panes but ran out of lead strip for now,

Here's the 1st shelf is pens, inks and embossing powders, the box has flowers from wild orchid crafts. The 2nd shelf has cd cases with stamps in and a couple of craft cdroms.

These 2 shelves are stuffed with alsorts, bigshot, melt pot, ribbons etc.

The bottom is stuffed with card and paper...now you know why I don't buy designer paper, I have nowhere to put it lol.
Oh and this is where I cut and fold all my card....I am good at avoiding the ironing lol.

Well, I hope you have had fun perusing my craft space, sorry there isn't much happening on my workdesk :0)

Covered notebook....

Well I am ready to start making homemade gifts for xmas in conjunction with Earlybird Xmas (link in sidebar), I have covered my notebook and now I can start making a list of family and friends and figure out what homemade gifts I want to make for them :0)
Are you getting ready for xmas? We are half way through the year you know, I don't know about you but I feel as though the year is whizzing past faster that I can keep up....am I getting old? Don't answer that Denise, matey I know what your thinking lol.

Back to my notebook, this is it opened, I have made the pages 2 1/2 inch width x 8 1/4 inch length added a pen holder and the folder is 7 1/2 inch wide scored on scor-pal at 3 1/2 and 4 inch....I love making these notebooks as extras for xmas gifts, my mum has them for shopping lists, phone numbers and lately for hospital and doctor appointments (she is still having regular check ups since her stroke earlier this year) so I make them for her regularly, not just for xmas.

The front I have matted with xmas paper and various small xmas stamps and "Honey" Sugar Nellie xmas stamp, all coloured with copics.

I was wanting to take a photo of my first homemade gift, but we ended up with visitors today so its only half finished, I will be back as soon as they are ready :0)

I have made this card for my son's birthday, the image is Spider Henry and he is a free digi from non other than the wonderful Katharina of whiff of joy :0) Thank you for sharing Katharina, I was stumped as to what to make for my son's card......yes he will be 21 years old but hey ho its cute lol.
I coloured Henry with copics and the background papers are from Crafters Companions Cute Companions cdrom.
I forgot to photo the tickets on the bottom of the easel card, they say Love and Hugs :0)

Crafty card for a crafty challenge :0)

Well it's official! Sara Davis and crew of Crafters Companion have started their own monthly challenge blog.....Their first challenge is a wonderful sketch by the fabulous Leane and the extra is Floral. 

Well being a Huge fan of Crafters Companion and Popcorn, how could I resist? I have used papers from the Popcorn the Bear "floral" cdrom and the stamp set "Bunches of Love", stamped with memento and coloured with copics and derwent inktense pencils. Finished with flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts and heart gems. The card measures 7 inch x 7 inch.

Here's the inside all matching and stamped with "Soufle" from the same set. I have blanked off the recipients name...don't want to spoil the surprise *wink*.

I want to say thank you for all my lovely comments that you, my friends leave, I truly feel honoured to know you :0)

Sunday bliss.....

Just relaxing today, the suns shining although a bit windy, its still a beautiful day :0)
I have joined the rest of the crafting world and delved into using Wild Orchid Crafts for my flowers, what excellent service! I will definately be using their services again and again and...well you get the picture lol.
For todays card I have used Sugar Nellie's Penpal and colour her with copics, again I got so engrossed in colouring I forgot to note which colours I was using until it was too late...sorry peeps, I will try to remember which ones and update blog later :0)
Here's a close up :0)

I have used papers from Funky Hand's Now thats Funky cdrom and used Crafters Companion's Ultimate board to make the scallops and heart. The doily effect is a peel off and I finished with a tag and ribbon, oh and not forgetting the wonderful flowers and pin from Wild Orchid Crafts :0)

Stressfull Sunday.....

Well we are finally back from picking up Ryann's car (we should have picked up saturday but woman who owned it delayed us until today). We set off at 9.15 am this morning and arrived home at 3.30 pm! We found out that the car keeps overheating so we had to keep stopping and putting anti-freeze and water in it........we have seen 3 pub car parks, 2 shopping centre's and about a 100 sheep lol. What a long day! Oh and I have sunburn on my right arm ouch.

Onto todays card, this is a simple one with no papers, I was inspired when I visited my blogging friend Glee's blog last week :0)
The swirl stamps are Sheena Douglas and the butterflies are a spellbinders die. I coloured the card of the butterflies before cutting them out, by laying different coloured ink onto my craft sheet, sprayed with water and the layed glossy card onto it and smooshed (technical term lol).

right I am off to sooth my sunburnt arm now, catch you again later x

What a glorious day we have had today! The weather has been beautiful :0)
Today's card is a Magnolia one.....these stamps tend to get abit neglected because they are autumn ones, I won the autumn 2008 set from KreativKristin a couple of years ago in a blog candy she had :0)
I have been trying to find ways that I could use them for more than just autumn as they are the only Magnolia's that I have.
So for this one I added flowersoft to it and made it look like she has been picking flowers and not nuts and berries :0) Did it work, do you think?

The background is printed from Crafters Companions Cute Companions cdrom and then I added flowersoft to the ground :0)

I have had a right job trying to take a decent photo today, in the end I ended up outside and took this on top of my garden potting table!
I have used Popcorn "thinking of you" stamp and because its a front and back stamp it goes well with an aperature card. I have coloured him with copics and used inktense pencils for shading.
I have used sizzix ticket die and made them into raffle tickets for the sentiment

and the inside I have used an 8x8 notepaper printed from Popcorn "Floral" cdrom and used the verse writer to add a verse.

Relaxing Thursday

Just sat here chilling out with Alyssa, some ink and some stamps.
We have been playing making designer paper, Alyssa loved using bubble wrap and the big n juicy inkpad....she got just as much ink on her as she did on the papers, but it kept her quiet for a couple of hours lol.

I have used a strip of it on the card above, then we had a play with velum and the script stamp (Creative Expressions) and used that on the card above too. I have a HUGE stack of stamped and coloured toppers that need using up and Alyssa picked Claudia The Artist (Sugar Nellie), The sentiment is Justrite.

We have had fun playing this morning and I have promised Alyssa that we can make some more when she gets home from school :0)
Well thats it for Relaxing Thursday, have a relaxing day too and use up some of them scraps :0)

Where is the warm weather? I am sure that us in the UK just has varying degrees of winter all year round lol. my fingers have been acheing for days, they always do when its cold.
Anyway I wanted to share with you a notelet set that I have made, I love making them to give as gifts for my friends and I haven't had the chance to make one since last year.....so sorry my friends, I haven't forgotten about you!

I am still finding it hard to get into my crafting.....I can't tell you how many half made cards I have laying around! I have either got cards with papers on but no image or else a desk full of different images coloured in but no idea what card to put them to lol.

lazy Tuesday....

Yesterday and today I have treat myself to a lazy stamping day :0)
The weather has been beautiful and so with craft table and a supplies of inks and stamps, I have spent my days outside crafting :0)
Mum has gone on a well earned break with her boyfriend, so this week I am relaxing at home with hubby and the children and catching up with movies we have been meaning to watch together....bliss :0)

Here are a few cards that I have made over the past 2 days...

The meerkat one is for hubby, he loves the meerkat insurance adverts on the TV (UK), he laughs at them every time that they are on :0) The photography and trees stamps are from Creative Expression, the meerkat stamp is from Joanna Sheen and the top one is a Sugar Nellie stamp but for the life of me I cannot remember what she's called!

I have had some time to make some cards this week, and I have thoroughly enjoyed myself!

The one above is from Joanna Sheen - Jayne Nettley Mayhew cdrom 2, I have decoupaged the bluebirds and thought that they were so beautiful that they needed little else, so I stamped the greeting and added a little ribbon.

For this one I used Sheena Douglas' Rose stamp plate, masked the roses and stamped the script texture plate. I stamped the crackle texture stamp onto another piece of paper and matted this under the script one.

This one is from Joanna Sheen - Jayne Nettley Mayhew cdrom 2 and decoupaged, I stamped the rose and leaves (Sheena D) to complement the picture :0)

I am trying to make one xmas card per week from now, no more rushing around at the last minute. As you know, last xmas I didn't get the chance to send my friends cards because my Mum was rushed into hospital and spent 6 weeks before coming home only to end up having a stroke 2 weeks later (She;s now doing alot better thank the lord). So thats why this year I am getting organised :0)

This card is from Popcorn the Bear - Frosty and Bright cdrom

This one is another Sheena D creation.

Yep another Sheena creation :0) This ones from the Cottage stamp set.

This one I have used Claudia stamp for the main and Sheena's Swirls on the background paper. The papers are from Anice's Now Thats Funky cdrom.

Right back to the grindstone, time to get little madam in bed, I think I will bribe her with 2 stories instead of the usual 1 lol.

Its OSAAT challenge time....

This week over at OSAAT the challenge is Vintage!

The image that I have used is from June and I have printed it out onto cheep copier paper then versamarked and embossed with clear UTEE. I did the same with the frame then mounted onto stiff card.

The paper is from Joanna Sheen and mounted onto silver textured mirri card, I finished with some peel offs and blue ribbon :0)

I fancied making a card yesterday, but had nobody to make it for, so this is one for the box to use later :0)

I started with a stamped image of Peter Rabbit and cut him out with oval nestabilities and matted that onto yellow card cut with scalloped oval nestabilities. I stamped Peter again and coloured with Copics then cut him out and decoupaged him. I matted the centre of the card with matching green card, sprayed with Crafters Companion Gold Glitter, then mounted onto yellow card cut with scallop scissors. I added blue ribbon before sticking the matt down.

Well thats about it for now, I am off to see Alyssa run the Gingerbread run for sports relief this afternoon :0)

Look what my children made for me....

Well with the help of their dad lol.....but its beautiful anyway and I love it :0)

Liamm coloured the images and Alyssa put pritt stick (glue) on the back, hubby then put them on card and Liamm put the ribbon and peel offs on.

Didn't they do a great job! My wonderful family :0)

Oh and to top it all off they bought me Julie and Julia on dvd with Julia Childs cookbook sampler included!

What a wonderful film! Even hubby loved it and that was amazing because he called it a chick flick when number 2 son, Ryann bought it me :0)

Us Brits need a film of Delia Smith now :0)

This one I used Popcorn Fathers Day stamp coloured with copics and inktense pencils and paper from the Mens CDrom.

This one I used Popcorn Bunches of love stamp coloured with copics and inktense pencils and the paper is from Florals CDrom.

This last one I used Sheena Douglas' Train scene and coloured with copics.

All sentiments are stamped with Popcorn Birthday Hugs.

I started by brayering tempting turquiose on the top of my cardstock and certainly celery on the bottom, not quite reaching the tempting turquiose.

I have used the country cottage create a scene stamps and coloured with inktense pencils, then I masked the house and used trees from stampscapes to fill behind the house.

Well I best get back to work, I have 3 days to finish the other 11 cards!

Let me start by saying that I am not happy with the colouring on these two, because I am working to a deadline and have 16 cards in total to make before wednesday 10th March, they are a little more rushed than I like and would have loved to have more time to add shading and highlights.

new orders....

Why is it that when I get a big order for birthday cards, they always seem to be largely for males? I always struggle with male cards!

While mum has been ill these past 3 months, I have made her a get well card every week to keep her spirits up, this has worked great :0) Her friends that have been visiting to see how she is getting on have spotted all the cards that I have made and suddenly they want cards making! I am not complaining, I need to keep active, but why oh why do they have to include male cards on their lists!

Anyhoo, onto the 2 I have made so far, the 1st is Popcorn fishing from the Popcorn the bear Mens cdrom (Crafters Companion).

The second one, I have to admit that I pinched the idea from Becca at Amazing Paper Grace, I saw this amazing card that she made a while ago and it inspired me, so I computer generated the saying and stamped the robin (from Beatrix Potter, Crafters Companion) to go with it. The paper is from Funky Hands Now Thats Funky cdrom.

Got to go, the kids are fighting, off to bash heads together!

Peter Rabbit....

Hello everyone :0)

I received my new stamps from Crafters Companion yesterday, so I just had to play!

These stamps are so cute, I remember my mum reading Beatrix Potter to us when we were little, I loved Peter Rabbit and Jemima Puddleduck the best (any chance of getting Jemima on a stamp Sara?).

I didn't have the time to put these onto cards yesterday, so I just stamped and coloured them with Derwent Inktense pencils for a lter date :0)

I have the 3 stamp set but still have to save for the co-ordinating cdroms, so will have to improvise on what papers I use......mmmm could be interesting :0)

Mum's doing alot better, the stroke has left her feeling pretty weak and she drops things if she holds them in her left hand but other than that she's great.

We are still waiting for her to go to Northern General Hospital (Sheffield) to have surgery on her neck, she needs her veins unclogging and widening....doc's think this is what has caused the stroke.

Vancouver 2010..Congratulations Amy Williams!

Mum is back home from the hospital after suffering a mild stroke on thursday, she has been left with no permintant damage and is now recovering at home.

Mum's had a stroke....

Our family is having some very bad luck this year. Mum had a stroke last night and was rushed back into the hospital, she was only just recovering from the surgery she had and now this!
We could really do with some good luck sending this way, I can tell you!

I have made this card to take to the hospital with me later, the image is again from Beary Dust Stamps, these are awesome digital stamps, even when you print them large as I do (this card is 7 x 10 inch) you don't lose any of the detail, no matter what size you print at.

I know that I have only just got back to blogging with you all, now I am going to be taking a break again for a while.

Number 2 son asked me to make a valentines card for his new girlfriend...ahhhh.
I was perusing my bloggy friend Cheryl's blog earlier this week and spotted a wonderful card that she had made with some new digital stamps at Beary Dust well I had to go and check them out, wow oh wow! What awesome images they are, such fine detail and they print out beautifully no matter how big or small you print.
Here is a picture of the image that I have used and a before/after colouring.

I coloured her in with copics and here is the finished card.

I've had the dreaded flu!

Well I couldn't avoid catching the dreaded winter flu blug thats been going around!
I wanted to let you know that I received 3 more get well cards for my mum, although I haven't had the chance to take them to mum yet as I have been under the weather and didn't want her to catch it after all she's been through.....I will take them to her as soon as I am 100% fit again :0)

I can't say thank you enough, all the generosity that you have shown for a complete stranger is jaw dropping amazing! You guys are awesome :0) Mum is so overwhelmed with you all and your prayers are making her stronger everyday :0)

Mum's home!

The hospital finally let mum home this morning! She is so happy to be back with us :0)
Thank you for everyones lovely comments that you have left during this distressing time, you are all wonderful friends and I love you all :0)

Now I can relax and hopefully get back to my crafting....I have so missed blogging with you all :0)

Edited to say...Thankyou to everyone who has offered to send mum a get well card :0) It will really cheer her up :0) (see post below if you want to join in)

Well, will this black spot ever lift? Mum was moved to quarentine this afternoon, after showing signs of distress this morning, she has caught the Noro Virus while being treated for her other ailments.
She has been constantly sick today and has severe diarrohea. Now she is feeling at an all time low because she knows that its very unlikely that she will be home anytime soon.

Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers and help us lift this black cloud that seems to be hovering over us.

Wow what a xmas we have had! Mum had surgery to repair a burst bowel (everything went well), then a week of recovery in intensive care only to get an infection in the wound which had to be treated, that cleared
up and then she got a blood clot in her lung (thats now gone) and then the doctors said she had pluerisy.
She was hoping to be able to come home 2 days ago but then she had a relapse and now they are thinking she may have an abscess on her liver......do you ever get the feeling that the doctors grasp at straws and are working their way through the ailments lists? well if we are only on the A's then we have a long way to go before they get to the Z's lol. She is getting very fed up I can tell you!

I want to ask you my friends if you could possibly do me a favour? It would really cheer her up if she received some of your lovely get well cards, no pressure, but if you have got a minute of your time.....

Merry Christmas.....

I've just snook on to say Merry Christmas to all my friends and dedicated followers :0)

Just got back from seeing my mum at the hospital, she has been moved from intensive care onto a normal ward now so all is getting better :0) Her surgery wound is weeping abit so they think that she has an infection in her wound and need to treat it.

We get to celebrate xmas again when my mum gets to come home.....the kids can't wait, they think they are getting more presents lol.

Mum's been taken ill....

Hello everyone, we were just getting ready to go and spend christmas with my family when mum rang me on Thursday night asking for help, she was in agony, so we rushed over and ended up calling an ambulance.
What a scary night! she had a burst abscess on her bowel and was rushed into surgery, she is now recovering in the high dependacy unit (HDU), the surgery went well but she is on a high amount of oxygen and morphine :0(

I want to say sorry to all my friends who I haven't managed to send christmas cards too this year, I feel awful that I haven't had the time to send them out to you......hope you understand, I will catch up with you as soon as life slows down again :0)

Hello everyone :0)

This will be my last post untill the new year.

I would like to wish everyone a

very merry christmas and all the best for the new year to come from our family to yours :0)

This is 1 of 20 cards that I have made to send out to friends, because of all the sewing projects that I has been taking up my time recently, I have made the same style card for everyone in mass bulk.

I love the way these have come out....well I am biased, I love popcorn the bear and I made it so of course I love it lol.
